All of Switzerland as a playing field
To launch the Rivella App, branded entertainment was reimagined with a map-based mobile game: the whole of Switzerland became a digital playing field. During the winter season, users could collect virtual Rivella bottles at over 8,000 physical locations in ski resorts and urban regions and prove themselves in various minigames.
The game principle was simple and motivating at the same time: anyone who collected enough bottles filled their virtual Rivella crate and thus received the chance to win attractive instant prizes. The grand prize was even a chalet for an entire winter season.
In the following years, the app was also continuously developed and expanded with new game mechanics and content. These included jump-and-run games, slider memory, additional minigames, and seasonal challenges. Over several years, this created an interactive brand platform that combined gamification, mobile gaming, location-based services, and brand experience and brought Rivella directly to users in a playful way.
Branded entertainment with a direct sales focus
During the campaign phases, the digital gaming experience was deliberately linked to product sales. Selected Rivella bottles had a promotion code in the cap, which could be used to unlock additional content and prize mechanics.
At the beginning, this could be used, for example, to place an AR slot machine directly at home or in the office and play it via smartphone. Users collected virtual Rivella bottles and thereby expanded their progress within the campaign.
In later campaign phases, the principle was further developed with new interactions and prize mechanics. In addition to digital collectibles, users could also win physical instant prizes and further promotional prizes. In this way, the campaign combined augmented reality, gamification, mobile marketing, and sales promotion into a seamless brand experience with a direct product connection.

Over 8,000 interaction points on a custom 3D map
Whether on the Weisshorn in Arosa, in the middle of Zurich, or at the train station in Lausanne: the interactive 3D map of the bottle hunt turned all of Switzerland into a digital playing field. More than 8,000 real interaction points in ski resorts, cities, and other highly frequented locations were integrated directly into the Rivella world.

Via the map-based mobile app, users could see at any time where the nearest minigame or collectible was located in their surroundings. In this way, location-based gaming, gamification, and brand experience were connected with real places, playfully motivating users to discover new locations and collect more Rivella bottles.
The specially developed custom 3D map in Rivella design was not only a navigation tool, but also a central component of the brand experience.
