Swisscom Beat Catcher
Interactive music and rhythm game for festival appearances
As a partner to some of the largest festivals and concerts in Switzerland, Swisscom creates a special brand experience with its striking blue Space. For the large-format LED cube, we developed the Beat Catcher, an interactive music game that combines movement, rhythm and gamification.
The game is played in pairs: together, the players try to stay as precisely on the beat of a song as possible and achieve high combos through perfectly timed actions. The special challenge lies in the setup – the huge screen is not controlled with classic controllers, but with the players' feet.
Four different songs provide variety and make the game interesting for returning visitors as well. Teams that play with a particularly strong sense of rhythm and achieve the longest combos fight their way to the top of the leaderboard.
This turns a classic festival booth into an interactive brand experience that combines music, movement and competition and brings Swisscom to life in a playful way.
Immersive gaming in the heart of the blue Space
In the heart of the Swisscom blue Space, the music game becomes an immersive experience. The inside surfaces of the cube consist of a total of 27 m² of LED surface and surround the players with large-scale animations, music and visual effects.
The task sounds simple: at the right moment, the clamp has to be closed in order to literally catch the beat. The more precise the timing, the more points the team receives – and the higher the chance of reaching a top position in the ranking.
It is not only individual performance that counts: perfectly coordinated teamwork makes it possible to achieve combos and additional bonus points. In this way, the Beat Catcher combines immersive gaming, music, team play and gamification into a high-impact festival and brand experience.

Custom controllers for the highest demands
The specially developed game controllers have to withstand extreme stress during festival use: intensive use with full body weight, thousands of interactions and changing weather and environmental conditions.
For this purpose, a robust in-house development is used. A special pressure-sensitive material enables an almost indestructible construction while at the same time responding with practically no noticeable latency.
The result is a durable, precise and low-maintenance controller that functions reliably even in continuous event use and enables a direct, responsive gaming experience.

The sound for your mood
Music is a central component of the Swisscom Beat Catcher. For four different moods, specially composed songs were developed, each creating its own mood and gaming atmosphere.
Before starting, the players choose the sound that best matches their current mood – allowing them to experience each game a little differently:
- Energetic Breakbeat – fast, driving and full of energy
- Funky Jersey – rhythmic, playful and full of groove
- Dreamy Reggaeton – relaxed, atmospheric and melodic
- Happy Pop – positive, catchy and full of festival vibes
In this way, the Beat Catcher combines custom music, rhythm gaming and interactive brand experience into an experience where sound, movement and gameplay work together perfectly.

Light version for smaller festivals
Not every event location offers enough space for the large blue Space. That is why a compact light version of the Beat Catcher was developed, which requires significantly less space with a 3 × 2 metre screen.
The central game principle remains fully intact: rhythm, team play, foot control and gamification also ensure an intense and entertaining gaming experience in the smaller version.
This allows the interactive Swisscom brand experience to be used flexibly at a wide range of festivals, events and event venues – without compromising on fun or recognisability.
